Meet Christopher

At 13, Christopher loves the Philadelphia Eagles, Pokémon cards, and video games. After being diagnosed with B-cell ALL leukemia at age 12, his family received two childcare grants from Ribbons of C.A.R.E. The first paid for a babysitter at home for a week, so his parents could stay by his side during his initial diagnosis and treatment. A second grant helped with childcare during another hospital stay. This Caregiver Day, we’re honored to share Christopher’s story and recognize the support that helps families be there for the people they love.

Supporting the Birdsall Family

As Kalene’s cancer progressed and she was no longer able to work, Ribbons of C.A.R.E. provided her family with a childcare grant to help cover the cost of care for their daughter, Hazel. This support helped ease one practical concern while Kalene and her family focused on her care and final family memories.

Supporting Siblings, Meet Cam and his mother Jordan!

This past summer, Ribbons of C.A.R.E. helped provide a meaningful summer camp experience for Cam’s siblings, while Cam underwent open-heart surgery at Boston Children’s Hospital. While Cam recovered for weeks, hospitalized with both parents by his side, they had the opportunity to attend summer camp and normalcy during an incredibly difficult time for the family.

Because when one child faces a serious medical condition, the entire family is impacted.
